hello, sooo, today was one of the best days ever!
no, let me talk abt chijmes first alright?
my grpmates and i went to chijmes for a field trip projj!
all catholic girls (okay la, plus st pats & all), you will be SOOO DAMN DISAPPOINTED AFTER THIS IMGAE HEAVY ENTRY!

You know, since entering a Catholic school, churches have alwasy given me the impression its damn gothic or grand and beautiful.
& oh yes, i rmbed the first time i went to CHIJMES for IJ Trail?
That was it, I fell in love with the place and everything man!
So we had like IJ Trail there, introduced the palce to the Sec1s
(who are horrribly old now, they are sec 4 alrdy please -.- im tt old)
and seriously, the bunch of camp instructors felt soooo proud to be an IJ girl (:
Also, not forgetting the CHIJ 50th Anniversary where i met so many more IJ girls form the other schools, it was so fun bonding.
hello val, hello maria, helo eunica, hello cheryl, im glad i met you girls!!
and the guard of honour i got CCA points for, jsut plain clapping -.-

Let me introduced to you the place okay.
We have the Caldwell House where the nuns used to stay and all.
Its a realy really crmaped up place and you can imainge.

We have the Gate of Hope there where babies were left at the doorstep in baskets and such, most of them are unwanted babies or during the war times, where people could not afford to keep their own flesh and blood.
So they left it at the doorsteps of CHIJMES and the nuns would tkae them in.
THats why its called the gate of hope (:

We have the Chijmes Hall, where masses and all religious activities were held there.

But guess what?
Nothing of such IJ history is left there.
Can you imagine how disappointed my loners gang were?
There were othing but pubs and bars and spas and shops everywhere.
There was nothing left behind that reminded people about the past, about the IJ schools.
The Chijmes Hall was used as a function hall, where we found Beer Taps and such in the hall. & also, plaques commemorating the dead were covered with the chairs.
How disrespectful.
Next, Caldwell House was nothing but a sign. Teling people tis the caldwel house.
up there, we only see spas and the staff office.
With no plaque to show and form of activities in the past.
Moreover, the Gate of Hope was really the ultimate..
it was located at the entrance near the Jap restaurant, obviously no one would turn right and take a looka t the gate nor the plaque?
But what was worst is that the smoking corner for that blody restaurant is located RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE GATE OF HOPE.
What hope does it bring to us anymore? and why does the Asian Civilisation Museum people even preserve it? For yr smokers to kill more ppl, thanks!

To sum it up, CHIJMES is nothing but the skelethon who's body alrdy rotten,
a body without a heart, a bathtub without a tap, a fan without its blades.
it is nothing but 'for show', to let night-chiongers to go to a place once called a church and for educaiton purposes to chill, hang out and to ... drink?
in a church, how ironic.
Seriously, I am very very very agitated and angered at how much effort the government is putting in to preserve this place, come on, you wont find another CHIJMES anywhere know!
And yr sotres dont even cater to the people coming chijmes for, no souvenirs and all. all buddhist and those wierd wierd craftworks.
comeon people, is it so hard to tell a story left behind for 104 years?
the only nice thing that was maintained so wel were the glass panes, they shine so brightly thru as if the angels were smiling at us, because we can see how pathetic the place have becomed.

This is gonna be one hell of a report to write, to be critical and yet objective and also professional. come on people, we can do this (:
